    Fiscal Year 2020  - Called Meeting and Intent to Transmit Budget for City of Metter Fire & Rescue Department
    A special called meeting of the City of Metter Mayor and Council will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Metter City Hall. The purpose of the meeting includes the following:  (1) conduct of regular business matters; (2) executive session with legal counsel regarding proposed or potential legal action; (3) a work session regarding the FY 2020 Budget for the City of Metter; and  (4) consideration of a Motion to transmit the intended operating and capital budgets for the City of Metter Fire and Rescue Departments to the Candler County Board of Commissioners as required by the 2018 Service Delivery Strategy.
    All interested citizens are invited to attend.

    Notice of Public Hearing Zoning Ordinance Amendment
    The City of Metter Planning Commission will consider applicant requests for advisory review at its meeting on June 3, 2019 at 6 pm at Metter City Hall. Public comments for and against the request will be taken at that time. The Mayor and City Council for Metter, Georgia will hold a Public Hearing in accordance with zoning and public hearing procedures of the City of Metter, the State of Georgia and the City of Metter Zoning Ordinance on Monday, June 10, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. for or against requests made pursuant to the Metter Zoning Ordinance and/or Metter Subdivision Ordinance. All meetings will be at Metter City Hall, 49 South Rountree Street, Metter Georgia. Requests to be considered on the above dates are as follows:
    Application C-1904 (M33 113): Tyla Beasley request a conditional use variance for .92 acres of property located at 433 S.W. Broad Street tax parcel M33 113, to allow for the use of property as a grooming and boarding kennel.
    Application RZ-1905 (046 008 001): Seth Durden request a zoning map amendment for 12.05 acres of property located at 44958 Highway 46 E. tax parcel 046 008 001, to allow for manufactured homes. This zoning map amendment applies only to the 12.05 acres lying within the city limits of Metter, Georgia.

    The City of Metter City Council do hereby announce that the proposed General Fund and Special Revenue budgets for Fiscal Year 2020 will be submitted to the Mayor and City Council for consideration on Monday, June 3, 2019. 
    The proposed Fiscal Year 2020 Budget will be available for public review and inspection beginning Monday, June 3, 2019 at City Hall located at 49 S. Rountree St., Metter, GA 30439, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday, as required by O.C.G.A. §36-81-5(d).
    A Budget Hearing for public comments on the Fiscal Year 2020 Budget is scheduled for Monday, June 10, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. located at City Hall, 49 S. Rountree St., Metter, GA 30439.
    A Called Meeting to adopt the City of Metter Fiscal Year 2020 Budget is scheduled for Monday, June 17, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. located at City Hall, 49 S. Rountree St. Metter, GA 30439.

  • About Metter Fire-Rescue

    The Metter Fire-Rescue Department is a combination department consisting of fulltime professional firefighters and volunteer professional firefighters. Our coverage area is 249 square miles covering the entire Candler County area. Fire station #1 is located in downtown Metter at 56 South Lewis Street, and station #2 is located at 120 South Main Street in the Town of Pulaski. We have an ISO rating of a class 4 within the City of Metter and in the Town of Pulaski. The area outside the City of Metter within 5 road miles of the Metter Station #1 has an ISO rating of 4Y. The area outside the Town of Pulaski within 5 road miles of the Pulaski Station #2 has an ISO rating of class 4Y. We have mutual aid agreements with all surrounding fire departments.  

    The Metter Fire-Rescue provides the highest level of emergency services, which includes:
    •    fire protection
    •    rescue services
    •    emergency management
    •    public education and fire prevention

    It is the vision of the Metter Fire-Rescue to serve and provide a safer community through standards of excellence in our leaders and personnel who are guided by the principles of trust, integrity, honesty and loyalty, and who take pride in the traditional values of our department through teamwork, education, peak performance and responsiveness.


    The Metter Fire-Rescue is dedicated to providing for the safety and welfare of the public through preservation of life, health, property and the environment, utilizing core values of service, bravery, honor and preparedness. Metter Fire-Rescue will strive to protect and preserve the health and safety of all personnel and to return them safely to their families.
