    The City of Metter will hold a called meeting on Monday, April 19, 2021, 5:30 p.m. at the Metter Police Department Courtroom, 805 E. Lillian St., for the purpose of selecting an administrator and engineer for the 2021 Community Development Block Grant project.
     

     
  • PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

    The City of Metter is considering applying to the Georgia Department of Community Affairs for a Community Development Block Grant of up to $750,000.  These funds must be used to primarily benefit low and moderate income persons.

    The activities for which these funds may be used are in the areas of housing, public facilities, and economic development.  More specific details regarding eligible activities, plans to assist displaced persons (if any), the estimated amount of funds proposed to be used for activities to benefit low and moderate income persons, and the rating system will be provided at a public hearing which will be held at the Metter Police Department Courtroom, 805 E. Lillian Street, Metter, Georgia 30439 on April 20, 2021 at 5:00p.m. This meeting is accessible by phone for any citizens wishing to attend.     The purpose of this hearing will be to obtain citizen input regarding the development of the application and to review progress on the previous CDBG grant (if applicable).  Persons with special needs relating to handicapped accessibility or foreign language shall contact Angie Conner, City Clerk at (912) 685-2527 or [email protected] prior to April 20, 2021.  The Clerk can be located at the Metter City Hall, 49 South Roundtree Street, Metter, Georgia 30439 between the hours of 8:00 to 5:00 Monday through Friday, except holidays.

  • PUBLIC NOTICE
    GENERAL ELECTION AND QUALIFYING FEES


    In accordance with O.C.G.A. § 21-2-131(a)(1)(A) notice is hereby given that the City of Metter will hold a General Election on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 for the purpose of electing a mayor and two council members from the following districts for four-year terms:

                MAYOR
                Mayor              At Large          Term beginning 01/01/2022 ending 12/31/2025

                CITY COUNCIL
                Seat 2              District 1         Term beginning 01/01/2022 ending 12/31/2025
                Seat 4              District 2         Term beginning 01/01/2022 ending 12/31/2025

    The qualifying fee for the position of mayor is $207.00.
            
    The qualifying fee for the city council position is $90.00.

    In accordance with section 21-2-132(d)(3) of the Georgia Election Code and Rules of the State Election Board the qualifying period shall begin Monday, August 16, 2021 at 8:30 a.m. and run through Friday, August 20, 2021 at 4:30 p. m. at City Hall, 49 South Rountree Street, Metter, Georgia.

    The voter registration deadline to vote in the November 2, 2021 election is October 4, 2021.

  • About Metter Fire-Rescue

    The Metter Fire-Rescue Department is a combination department consisting of fulltime professional firefighters and volunteer professional firefighters. Our coverage area is 249 square miles covering the entire Candler County area. Fire station #1 is located in downtown Metter at 56 South Lewis Street, and station #2 is located at 120 South Main Street in the Town of Pulaski. We have an ISO rating of a class 4 within the City of Metter and in the Town of Pulaski. The area outside the City of Metter within 5 road miles of the Metter Station #1 has an ISO rating of 4Y. The area outside the Town of Pulaski within 5 road miles of the Pulaski Station #2 has an ISO rating of class 4Y. We have mutual aid agreements with all surrounding fire departments.  

    The Metter Fire-Rescue provides the highest level of emergency services, which includes:
    •    fire protection
    •    rescue services
    •    emergency management
    •    public education and fire prevention

    It is the vision of the Metter Fire-Rescue to serve and provide a safer community through standards of excellence in our leaders and personnel who are guided by the principles of trust, integrity, honesty and loyalty, and who take pride in the traditional values of our department through teamwork, education, peak performance and responsiveness.

Metter Fire-Rescue will strive to protect and preserve the health and safety of all personnel and to return them safely to their families.
