         A Public Hearing will be held in the courtroom at Metter Police Department located at 805 E. Lillian St., Metter, GA at 5:15 PM on Monday, March 08, 2021 to consider creating a zoning classification of one parcel of property being annexed into the city limits of Metter. This property is presently not zoned. Application has been filed for Zoning this property HOC (Highway Oriented Commercial). The property is located at 32640 South Hwy 121, map and parcel number 037-030.
         All that certain tract or parcel of land situate, lying and being in the 1685 G.M.
         District of Candler County, Georgia, being in the City of Metter, and being designated
         as Parcel 2, containing 1.622 acres together with all improvements
         thereon as shown on that certain plat of survey dated March 21, 1995, prepared for
         James P. Coleman and Tucker Industries, Inc. by George William Donaldson, Georgia
         Registered Land Surveyor, and recorded in Plat Book 7, Page 122, Candler County
         records. Said plat and the reference thereof are incorporated herein for a more
         complete and accurate description. The within described tract is bounded, now or
         formerly, according to the plat as follows: Northeast by lands of Woodpecker Trail
         L.T.D., Southeast by lands of Woodpecker Trail L.T.D., Southwest by lands of lands
         of Woodpecker L.T.D.; and Northwest by the right-of-way of Georgia Highway
         Number 23 and Georgia Highway 121.
         This is that same property as was conveyed by limited warranty deed dated June 8,
         2020 from Starmart Properties, LLC to Ganesh SV Metter MPMP, LLC, and recorded
         in Deed Book 298, Page 2982-2983, Candler County records.

        There will be a City Council meeting held that same day (March 08, 2021) at 5:30 PM and action taken by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Metter, to vote for or against the above request under the City of Metter Zoning Ordinance.

         Ample opportunity to be heard will be given to any citizen and all parties who are interested in attending the hearing.

This individual can be located at 49 South Rountree Street, Metter, Georgia (City Hall) between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. Monday through Friday, except holidays.



    Mayor and City Council have scheduled a FY 2022 Pre-Budget Workshop for Monday, February 22, 2021, 5:30 p.m. at the Metter Police Department Courtroom located at 805 E. Lillian St., Metter, GA 30439.


    In accordance with O.C.G.A. § 21-2-131(a)(1)(A) notice is hereby given that the City of Metter will hold a General Election on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 for the purpose of electing a mayor and two council members from the following districts for four-year terms:

                Mayor              At Large          Term beginning 01/01/2022 ending 12/31/2025

                CITY COUNCIL
                Seat 2              District 1         Term beginning 01/01/2022 ending 12/31/2025
                Seat 4              District 2         Term beginning 01/01/2022 ending 12/31/2025

    The qualifying fee for the position of mayor is $207.00.
    The qualifying fee for the city council position is $90.00.

    In accordance with section 21-2-132(d)(3) of the Georgia Election Code and Rules of the State Election Board the qualifying period shall begin Monday, August 16, 2021 at 8:30 a.m. and run through Friday, August 20, 2021 at 4:30 p. m. at City Hall, 49 South Rountree Street, Metter, Georgia.

    The voter registration deadline to vote in the November 2, 2021 election is October 4, 2021.
    Council meets the second Monday of each month.
    All Regular Meetings are scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
    Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all city council meetings are held in the courtroom at the Metter Police Department located at 805 E. Lillian St., Metter, GA until further notice.

    The Metter Municipal Court is held on the 1st Tuesday of every month at 5 p.m. Court is held in the main courtroom at the Candler County Courthouse. You may also pay tickets and fines online.
