The City of Metter Street and Lane Department is responsible for maintaining and improving the City’s streets and all associated drainage. This department works closely with the City Tree Board in the pruning, removal and new tree planting. They are responsible for maintaining our beautiful medians filled with flowers as well as our downtown parks and fountain. This department also maintains three Metter city parks. They help with maintaining the grass at the I-16 Industrial Park and the Metter Municipal Airport.
All public right of ways (88.59 miles), including trees, grass cutting, planting, conducting sign and road maintenance are maintained by the City of Metter Street and Lane Department.
While minor projects can be performed by the Street and Lane Department personnel, large projects are contracted out, as the Department is primarily staffed for maintenance only.
