Mayor Edwin O. Boyd

Mayor Edwin O. Boyd, a native of Greenville, South Carolina, graduated from Lakeside High School in Atlanta, Georgia in 1969. Mayor Boyd graduated from Georgia Southern University, in 1973 with a BBA in General Business. Mayor Boyd is married to the former Elaine Jones of Metter and has two daughters, Melanie Martin & Son in Law Brian of Alpharetta, and Stephanie Anderson of Jesup, and one Grandson Matthew Martin of Alpharetta. Mayor Boyd began his insurance career in 1977 with James M. Jones Insurance Agency, becoming President of Jones & Boyd Insurance Agency in 1984. Mayor Boyd is a member of the Metter United Methodist Church and currently serves on the Advisory Board of Sea Island Bank, Metter Branch. He is past president of the Metter-Candler Chamber of Commerce, 1991-1993, and Past-President of the Metter Rotary Club, 1986. Mayor Boyd previously served on the City of Metter City Council for 14 years before becoming Mayor of the City of Metter in 2018.

James McKie photo

James McKie 

Councilman James McKie represents the residents of District One in the City of Metter. He was born in Fitzgerald, Georgia, McKie now calls Metter home with his wife Janie and their children. From 2013 to 2015, he was a patrol officer for Metter Police Department before becoming a traffic enforcement officer. In 2016, he began working as a criminal investigator, and he was named Officer of the Year for 2016. In 2018, McKie left the Metter Police Department but stayed in Metter to raise his family, which he said is a driving force to running for City Council. . McKie recently received his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Reinhardt University, and he plans to obtain his Master’s Degree in Public Administration beginning this year.

Since 1990, Stewart has lived in the Metter area, and though he has travelled and lived many places Metter has been the place I have called homeFor over 30 years, Stewart has owned a design-build project coordination firm, working with many aspects of design planning for residential, historical, commercial, manufacturing, and defense projectsAs a civic-minded business owner, he aspired to be the ‘special ops’ of the construction industry as a solutions provider. Chyrileen Boston Kilcrease

Councilwoman Chyrileen B. Kilcrease represents the residents of District Two in the City of Metter. She is a life-long resident of Metter, Georgia. After graduating from Metter High School in 1971, she received her Associate Degree of Nursing from Albany Junior College. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Georgia Southern University in 1991, a Master of Science in Nursing from Armstrong Atlanta University in 1997, and a post-Masters Nurse Educator Certification from Georgia College & State University in 2006, and is a retired Associate Professor of Nursing from Middle Georgia State College where she taught nursing for 17 years and currently works a PRN staff nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at Emanuel Medical Center. She has served as Metter’s Mayor Pro Tem for the past 11 years. She is affiliated with the following organizations: Rose Metter Chapter No. 249 Order of Eastern Star, Candler Branch NAACP, Heart of Georgia-Altamaha Regional Commission, Rural Southeast Georgia Black Nurses’ Association and the Metter Historical Society. She is a member of the Sams Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

Rashida Taylor

Rashida Taylor

Rashida Taylor represents the residents of District Two in the City of Metter. She is a native of Metter and graduated from Metter High. After graduating, she received an Associate’s Degree from East Georgia College. She received a BS in Human Development and Family Sciences from Georgia Southern University. For the past 23 years, Rashida has been the owner and director of Rashida’s Day Care. She is the founder of Vizionary Impact which is a business created to mentor and support small, first generation and/or nontraditional business owners. Vizionary Impact Service, Inc is another business that Rashida has founded. This is a non-profit 501(C)3 corporation dedicated to helping entrepreneurs that are single parents and/or low-income households. Councilwoman Taylor is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, Georgia Association for the Education of Young Children, National Council on Family Relations, Family Life Coaching Association, Georgia Municipal Association and Metter-Candler Chamber. Rashida is married to Chatavis “Tay” Taylor, and they have three children: daughter, Sydney and sons Conley and Montrail. Her grandsons are O’mari, KeJuan and Legacy. The family attends church at Open Door Worship Center.

 Victoria Gaitten

Councilwoman Victoria Gaitten represents the residents of District One in the City of Metter as of January 3, 2024. In 2013, Victoria and her husband Kaleb made Metter home and have since grown their family. For eight years Victoria was employed by the Metter-Candler Chamber of Commerce and served six of those years as the Executive Director. She now serves as the Director of Marketing for Tom's Pawn Central and is owner/operator of Gaitten Creative. She enjoys volunteering in the community and serves on the Metter College & Career Academy board and is a former board member of Communities in Schools of Candler County. Victoria believes "Everything's Better in Metter!"
